Description
On Woolwich Road, there is a wall to the east and gates with gate piers to the north of Number 18, dating from the mid-19th century. The structure features three massive, rusticated stone piers. The central pier has a round-headed niche with a keystone that supports a cornice. An overthrow of frieze and cornice extends from the center to the right pier, forming the end of an entrance loggia. There are two pairs of double wrought iron gates; one pair opens onto this loggia, while the other leads to a drive on the left. The outer piers are topped with ball finials. The east wall is made of multicoloured stock brick and has a round, moulded red brick coping. Near the corner, there is a stone insert with the inscription "Greenwich Hospital, 1857."
