Description
The Hermitage is a house likely built in the early 19th century, as it is mentioned in the Enclosure Award of 1804. It has one storey and an attic, constructed of stucco, and features gabled cross wings at both ends. The central section slightly projects and includes a four-centred headed doorway with a drip mold. On either side of the entrance are three-light mullion and transom windows. The roof extends over the ground floor and is supported by plain posts, featuring three dormers: the central one is semi-circular, while the other two are gabled with casements. There are large plain brick chimney stacks. The wings have four-light mullioned and transomed canted bays with casements and hipped roofs, along with a two-light casement above, also with a drip mold. The house is adorned with ornamental barge-boards and has a thatched roof.
