Description

This is an 18th-century terrace of six houses situated on The Green. The houses are two storeys and have an attic. Numbers 23 and 26 are built of yellow stock brick, while the others are painted stucco. The houses originally had 16 sash windows, most retaining their original glazing bars. The roof is a Mansard design, covered in old tiles and features ten segmental-headed dormer windows. A coach archway is located between numbers 24 and 26, above which is a large four-light mullioned and transomed window set within a segmental recess with reeded details. A raised parapet above this window contains a semi-circular window, and a gable top. The building has plain chimney stacks. Alterations in the 19th century resulted in a variety of shop fronts typical of a village setting. Number 31 has a doorway with decorative shaped brackets above. The terrace is considered a picturesque feature of The Green and is historically linked as a group with the Ye Old Cherry Tree Inn and numbers 23 to 32.
