Description
The forecourt walls, railings, and gates to Number 4 (Essex House) and Number 5 (Arnoside House) date from the early 18th century. They feature a red brick wall that divides the forecourt and extends down to the central of three square brick piers, which support stone urns. These piers hold two sets of wrought iron gates with decorative overthrows. Low stone-coped walls on either side support wrought iron railings that stretch to the lower side piers of brick, which also have stone urns. Number 3 (Essex Coach House) is part of the group that includes Number 4 (Essex House) and Number 5 (Arnoside House and Arnoside Cottage), along with the forecourt railings and gates.
