Description
Norbury House and Sandford House are a pair of late 18th-century buildings located on the east side of The Green in Southgate. Each house is three storeys tall, with an attic and basement, and features two windows on the front. They are constructed of stock brick and have a parapet front, topped with a slated mansard roof that includes dormer windows.
Both houses have full-height canted bays that were added in the 19th century. The sash windows are original for the inner ones and include glazing bars. There are eight steps leading up to six-panel doors set in panelled reveals. The doorcases are adorned with attached Egyptian columns, entablatures, and open pediments above the fanlights.
Norbury House (No 39) has an additional two-storey north wing that features an original Venetian window on the first floor, a later Venetian window on the ground floor, and a modern projecting surgery entrance.
