Description

Nos. 6 to 9, The Common, form a long terrace of houses dating to around 1840. Nos. 6 and 7 constitute a right-hand pair, while Nos. 7 and 8 compose a left-hand pair. Each house is two storeys high, with most divisions defined by large, prominent pilasters. Nos. 6 and 7 feature giant Doric pilasters, while Nos. 7 and 8 have Corinthian pilasters. The houses are stuccoed and have hipped slate roofs. A single-storey, hipped extension with a central canted bay projects to the right of No. 6. A two-storey wing of two bays links to the left, featuring a panelled and pedimented parapet. Entrance doors are situated within the half-bay divisions of each house. The group value of these houses lies in their uniform appearance as a cohesive terrace.
