Description
The building is a former Methodist church and memorial hall, dating to approximately 1868, and designed by John Tarring. It is constructed from Kentish ragstone in a Gothic style, and comprises a nave with aisles and transepts. A lofty tower with a broach spire rises to the street, featuring a gabled front with an elaborate traceried window. The bell stage of the tower has three-light windows on each side, and the spire is topped with pinnacles. An adjoining Memorial Hall was built in 1925, faced in stone and exhibiting an Art Nouveau Gothic style, with a gable to the street and a cambered headed traceried window, as well as a gabled porch.
