Description
The Church of St Saviour, built in 1867 by A R Mullins with additions in 1880 by Goodhart-Rendel, is a large Gothic church. It is constructed of yellow brick with bands of red brick and stone window surrounds. The church features a nave with north and south aisles, north and south porches, a south-west tower with a spire, and a north-west baptistery connected by a single-storey porch. The chancel includes a south chapel, a transeptal north vestry, and a detached north-east chapel. The exterior has single lancets with cusped heads, and the west gable displays four lancets topped by a rose window in plate tracery. The tower consists of five stages, including a belfry with two tall openings on each face, and is capped by a tall slated broach spire. The interior walls are of bare brick.
