Description
The Church of St Mary Magdalene dates to 1868, with the tower completed between 1928 and 1930, designed by Edward Buckton Lamb. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and has tiled roofs. The church is in a distinctive decorated style and has a centralised cruciform layout, featuring a northeast tower situated between the chancel and transept. The main entrance is through the tower. The building includes a very wide two-bay nave, transepts, and a chancel with an apsidal east end, topped with a spirelet above the crossing. A dominant and intricately detailed timber roof is a notable feature. The interior contains a stone credence table, font, and pulpit, showcasing typical fittings designed by Lamb.
