Description

The Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Trophy, located in Crystal Palace Park, is a war memorial consisting of two parts: a hipped-roofed, timber-framed open-sided pavilion and a memorial ship's bell situated on a table. The ship's bell is supported by two large upturned dolphins with swirling tails, and the table features angled legs carved to resemble rope. Originally, a bronze medallion depicting a ship in full sail was mounted on the front of the table, flanked by two anchors, but these elements, along with a banner beneath the medallion, have been removed.

The timber pavilion sits on a concrete platform and is supported by three square wooden posts at each corner. It has a steeply-hipped slate roof with exposed square cut rafter feet. Surrounding the pavilion platform is a series of iron bollards linked by rope, and railings enclose the entire monument, which includes a flowerbed. Two inscription panels were originally attached to the railings, but both are now missing.
