Description
Crystal Palace Lower Level Station was built in the mid-19th century to accommodate visitors to the Crystal Palace, showcasing a grand architectural style. The station features two pavilions connected by a single-storey section. The left pavilion is designed in the French Chateau style, constructed of stock brick over two storeys, topped with a very steep hipped slate roof adorned with decorative ironwork along the ridge. It has a stone moulded eaves cornice and two double round-headed windows. The central section, which houses the ticket office, is a single-storey structure made of stock brick, featuring two round-headed doorcases with fanlights and four windows, although the canopy is now missing. The right pavilion is also two storeys high, built of stock brick with a hipped slate roof and a modillion cornice, and it includes three round-headed sash windows on the ground floor.
