Description

This is a pair of houses dating from the mid-19th century, located on Hamlet Road in Upper Norwood. The houses are two storeys with a basement, and are stuccoed. They have a hipped slate roof. A parapet runs along the top, with a raised panel in the centre flanked by console brackets and urns at the corners. Long-and-short quoins mark the corners. The houses originally had an extension of one window bay set back on each side, with a further recessed addition containing one window to number 22. There are four sash windows in total, all with moulded architraves. The ground floor windows are three-light sashes. The doorcases include round-headed fanlights; only the fanlight at number 22 retains its original glazing bars. The doorcases also have pilasters. A flight of steps leads up to the street.
