Description
The summerhouse, built around 1899 by W West Neve for Mary Blair, Duchess of Sutherland, is located approximately 10 metres north of Kingsbury Manor. It is designed in the Arts and Crafts style and features a timber frame with patterned brick nogging set on a brick plinth edged with stone, topped by a hipped thatched roof. The structure has a rectangular shape with a large canted bay at the rear. Inside, the rear wall is finished with panelling and a dado rail, and includes a recessed centre with a five-panelled door leading to a storeroom. The outside rear wall showcases an upper pattern of balustrading. The front and part of the sides are open, supported by four free-standing tapering square timber posts and two engaged posts, which are connected by shallow segmental arches. The ceiling is coved and features a pattern of timber ribs that create octagons and trapezoid shapes.
