Description

The Church of the Holy Innocents is a small country church built between 1883 and 1884, designed by William Butterfield. The building is constructed of brick with stone bands and dressings, and has a modern tile roof. It comprises a five-bay nave with a brick and timber south-west porch, a lower chancel with a lady-chapel projecting as a transept, and a vestry which was added in 1909. A small western tower was added in 1894; its lower section is rectangular, and the upper section is octagonal with four trefoiled openings and a shingled octagonal cap. A modern north aisle and western narthex were added in 1950 by D F Martin-Smith.
