Description
East Wickham Farmhouse is a possibly 15th-century, two-storey house located on Wickham Street, facing south. It features cross wings at both the east and west ends. The front and return elevations are finished in white-painted stucco and have parapets. The front has three windows, while the east and west ends each have two windows. These are sash windows with projecting cornices supported by brackets, and some retain glazing bars. The centre of the house has a tiled gabled roof with a single axial stack that has four flues, and a second stack is positioned nearer to the east end. The wings have hipped roofs with stacks located towards the rear. Although the general appearance suggests a late 18th or early 19th-century house, the plan and roof structure indicate that it is a refronted and storeyed timber-framed medieval hall-house with end wings. Inside, there are exposed beams, many of which are reused.
