Description
The Grahame White Hangar, located on Grahame Parkway in Hendon, was constructed partly before 1914 and partly around 1919 by Claude Grahame-White, a student of Louis Bleriot. This hangar was part of his School of Aviation and was associated with the Grahame-White Aviation Company, which he founded around 1911, producing aircraft such as Breguets, Morane-Saulniers, and Nieuports under license. During the First World War, production shifted to Arro 504s and DH6s. The hangar consists of two sections: a large four-bay structure primarily framed in steel with full-height sliding doors on the north side, and a smaller, older east section made of load-bearing brickwork featuring elliptical trusses with timber lattice webs. The hangar is listed for its historic interest.
