Description

The Parish Church of St Paul, built between 1829 and 1836 by William Wilberforce, is a plain, cement-rendered church typical of its time, prominently located on The Ridgeway. It features a symmetrical west front with six windows that have tracery and plain turrets at the corners. The central entrance leads into a simple interior, which includes an east window depicting the Deposition of Christ, a work from the 18th century that is copied from an Italian painting. The church has a shallow pitch roof and a small west gallery supported by iron columns.
