Description
No. 25 Asmuns Hill is a detached house built in 1909 by architects Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. The exterior features painted pebbledash with brick openings on the ground floor. The recessed entrance porch has a segmental-arched opening, while the other openings are flat. The house has a hipped roof covered with late 20th-century tiles, featuring swept, boxed eaves and first-floor half dormers, all of which are hipped.
The building stands two storeys high and has a three-window range, displaying an asymmetrical elevation that distinguishes it from other houses on Asmuns Hill. The entrance porch is located just off the center axis of the block, with a single two-light casement window to the left and a pair of two-light casements to the right. There is a three-light dormer in the third range and the rest are two-light dormers. A ridge stack is positioned to the left of the third window range, and an axial stack is located to the left of the second range on the rear slope of the roof.
The left side of the house features a pair of catslide dormers and a canted bay window near the front corner on the ground floor. The right side includes a chimney breast and stack, with a single-storey entrance porch to the right. While the doors have been altered, the casement windows retain their original design. This house is one of the few detached homes in the artisans' quarter of the suburb and is part of the Asmuns Hill group, representing a significant example of a complete streetscape designed by Parker and Unwin.
