TQ 2880 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER GROSVENOR STREET W1 69/77 (north side) 14.1.70 Nos 21 and 22 - II Terrace houses. 1898 by Balfour and Turner. Red brick and Portland stone, slate roof. Carefully composed Arts and Crafts free style workmanship. Five storeys and 5 window bays arranged in the rhythm 3 x 3. Painted ground floor with a canopy to the wide central entrance. Bracketed cornice at first floor level with 6 sash windows framed by pilastered arcade. Second and third floors have sash windows linked horizontally by flush stone banding. Simplified bracketed cornice below top floor which has pilastered windows inrhythm 4 x 4. Two gables with altered windows and balustrade on eaves. Good Arts and Crafts detailing to area railings and rainwater heads. Survey of London Vol XL.
