Description

The Third Church of Christ Scientist is a church built between 1910 and 1912 by the architectural firm Lanchester, Stewart and Rickards. It is constructed of Portland ashlar and features a very secular Free Classical style typical of the City of Westminster. The facade, which completes the vista of Half Moon Street, includes a giant niche entrance adorned with Tuscan columns and pilasters, along with bronze door and window fittings. Above the second stage, there is a deep entablature. An axial tower, added around 1930 and inspired by Wren's designs, features pedimented portals.
