Description
This is a row of terraced town houses located on Harley Street in Westminster, built around 1820 by John White for the Portland Estate. The properties are numbers 126 to 150 (even). They are constructed of stock brick with channelled stucco to the ground floors, and have slate roofs. The houses are three storeys high, with number 130 having five storeys, and all have basements. Each property has a three-window front.
The doorways are semicircular and arched, positioned on the left side from numbers 126 to 134, and on the right side thereafter. They feature double panelled doors with a circular panel in the centre, set within pilaster jambs with incised Grecian detail. The doorways have cornice doorheads and fanlights, the latter mostly being patterned. The upper floors have recessed sash windows set beneath flat, gauged arches. A plat band runs along the first floor. The buildings are finished with a crowning stucco cornice and blocking course. Continuous cast iron balconies, featuring a geometric, wheel and palmette pattern, are present on the first floor. Cast iron area railings with tasselled spearheads complete the facades.
