Description
Nos 1 and 1A Cavendish Square is a house that has been converted into offices. It dates from the early 18th century and was altered in the mid-19th century and later. The building is constructed of stuccoed brick and stands three storeys high, with an attic and basement. It occupies a corner site, featuring two windows facing Cavendish Square and a six-window return on the right side. The entrance is square-headed and flanked by Doric pilasters, with a triglyph frieze and cornice above. The windows are square-headed with architraves and recessed sashes. There is an iron balcony on the first floor and a cornice below a balustraded parapet. Inside, there is an open well stone staircase with an early 20th-century balustrade, early 18th-century panelling, and modillion cornices on the upper floors. The interior also includes 18th-century door architraves and some 18th-century doors.
