Description
Nos. 32 and 33 Acacia Road are semi-detached villas built around 1830-1840 as part of the Portland Estate St John's Wood villa development. They are constructed of stucco and have a slate roof, showcasing an Italianate-Grecian style. The buildings are two stories high with a semi-basement and each villa features three windows across the front, with the outer entrance bays being narrower and recessed. The doorways are framed with architraves and cornices, accessed by steps. The ground floor windows have recessed sashes set in moulded architraves, complete with cornices and consoles. The paired projecting inner bays are adorned with a Doric pilaster order that rises from a plat band above the semi-basement to a frieze beneath the flat eaves of the hipped low pitch roof, which includes later dormers. A central corniced chimney stack is present, and cast iron Grecian guard rails are installed at the ground floor windows. This villa type is similar to the adjoining Eyre Estate.
