Description

No. 27 Norfolk Road is a detached villa dating from around 1830, built as part of the Portland Estate development in St John’s Wood. It is constructed of stucco with a slate roof and exemplifies the picturesque Cottage Orné Tudor-Gothic style. The villa is two storeys high and has an asymmetrical facade with two windows, featuring a broader gabled bay that projects forward. An enclosed porch with a four-centred arch is situated to the right of the entrance, which is similar to the return facade of Woronzow Road. The gabled bay has mullioned casement oriels with pent roofs on the ground floor. The first floor has two-light casements under dripmoulds, with openwork bargeboarded gables topped with spike finials. The building is of a similar design to the adjacent villas on the Eyre Estate.
