Description
Nos. 58 and 59 Frith Street are terrace houses built around 1800-1801. They are constructed of stock brick and have concealed slate roofs, rising to four storeys with basements. The two houses have a closely similar design, but No. 58 features a two-window wide front, while No. 59 has a single bay. The doorways are positioned to the left and right, both featuring semicircular arches with six-panel doors and fanlights with radial patterns. The windows are recessed glazing bar sashes set under flat gauged arches, with No. 59 having tripartite windows. A stone band runs across the first floor, topped by a parapet with coping. The first-floor windows have wrought iron guards, plain on No. 58 and a trellis pattern on No. 59. No. 58 has 20th-century wrought iron railings and an overthrow in an early 18th-century style, while No. 59 retains a short length of original railings with urn finialed standards by its doorway. Inside, both houses feature simple early 19th-century mouldings, original doors, and geometrical wooden staircases. No. 58 includes several reset ornate wooden chimneypieces that incorporate early to mid 18th-century carvings.
