Description
The Queen Alexandra Memorial is a sculpted fountain located on Marlborough Road in St. James's, Westminster. It was created between 1926 and 1932 by the artist Alfred Gilbert. The memorial is made of bronze and is integrated into the garden wall of Marlborough House. It features finely cast and richly detailed Art Nouveau Gothic elements, including figures of the Virgin and Child accompanied by two female attendants. The small fountain is designed as a miniature weir that overflows into a shallow basin, which serves as the pedestal for the memorial. There are also a pair of bronze lamps flanking the memorial.
