Description

No. 22 Coventry Street is an office building dating from around 1880. It features a stone-faced exterior with a roof that is not visible. The building has four storeys and an attic, with four bays facing Coventry Street and two bays facing Haymarket, including a splayed corner. The ground floor is adorned with pink granite pilasters and late 20th-century glazing between them. The first floor has paired arches with mask keystones and foliated spandrels, and the windows are casements.

Giant Corinthian pilasters are positioned between the bays, connecting the second and third floors, while paired fluted Ionic pilasters are found at the attic level. The upper floors have square-headed sash windows, with pediments above the second-floor windows. A main console cornice is located above the third floor, and there is a subsidiary cornice at the attic. The building is topped with balustraded parapets that feature square, pedimented projections at intervals, and there are cast iron window guards on the second floor.
