Description
No. 34 Haymarket is a terrace house dating from around 1741, featuring a late 18th-century shop front and interior. The building is constructed of brown brick with a concealed roof and stands four storeys tall, including an attic storey, along with a basement. It is two windows wide. The ground floor showcases a notable late 18th-century double shop front, which has a central shop door and a house door to the right, both of which are panelled and feature patterned fanlights. The display windows, with original glazing bars on the small panes, are prominently bowed on either side of the doorway and topped with an entablature fascia. The upper floors have recessed glazing bar sash windows set beneath flat red brick gauged arches. A stone modillion cornice is present above the second floor, and there is a parapet with coping. The shop interior retains late 18th-century fittings, including a counter and shelving, along with an Adam style wooden screen at the rear.
