Description

This is a row of houses located in Stafford Place, City of Westminster, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of yellow brick, with No. 18 painted. They have slate mansard roofs and comprise three storeys, an attic mansard, and a basement. No. 16 has an additional full storey. Each house has a two-window wide frontage. The entrances are round-headed, with panelled doors and fanlights above. The windows are square-headed and largely retain their original glazing bars; they are sash windows. The second-floor window of No. 18 has been altered to create a cantilevered bay. A parapet tops the buildings, and wrought iron area railings with overthrows extend to the basement. A plaque from the Greater London Council is affixed to No. 16, commemorating the residence of Lord Hore-Belisha (1895 to 1957), a statesman.
