Description

This is a terrace of eighteen houses built in the early to mid-19th century, possibly by Roumieu. Located on the south-west side of Spring Street in the City of Westminster, the terrace is constructed of brown brick, with some areas painted, and features stucco dressings. It is three storeys high with an attic, and is divided into a 12-bay breakforward, with six bays to the right and 19 bays to the left.

The ground floor now contains 20th-century shop fronts, although remnants of 19th-century shop fronts remain. The upper bays are articulated by plain brick pilasters. The first floor originally featured an iron balcony, which has been removed from the right side. This floor contains sash windows with glazing bars, set within pilastered surrounds. A simplified Greek key motif appears above these surrounds. The second floor window openings are round-arched sashes, mainly with glazing bars, and with radial glazing in the heads, all surrounded by moulded archivolts on impost blocks. A frieze and modillion cornice runs along the building. The attic has sashes and casements set within architraves. A stucco coping finishes the parapet.
