Description
Duck Island Cottage, built in 1840 by John Burges Watson for the Royal Ornithological Society, is a cottage or lodge located in St James's Park, City of Westminster. The building features a rendered exterior and hipped gable roofs covered with patterned tiles. It is designed in a picturesque "cottage orné" style, consisting of two asymmetrical single-storey pavilions connected by a colonnade that resembles tree trunks. The cottage has patterned leaded lattice casements and rustic doors, along with ornate carved bargeboards and finials. Its design complements the landscaping of the park created by John Nash in 1828.
