Description
Wellington Arch is a Grade I listed triumphal arch located at Hyde Park Corner in the City of Westminster. It was erected in 1846 and designed by Decimus Burton. The arch is made of Portland stone and features a single archway flanked by coupled fluted Corinthian columns and pilasters, topped with a heavy cornice. The arch is adorned with sculptured plaques and is surmounted by a bronze sculptured group of winged victory in a chariot drawn by four horses, designed by Adrian Jones and installed in 1912. The arch now contains a police station.
