Description

This is a grand terrace of houses numbered 83 to 102, Eaton Square, dating from around 1825 and constructed as part of an estate designed primarily by Thomas and Lewis Cubitt. The buildings are constructed of stucco, with roofs largely concealed. Each house has a facade of three windows, with three storeys and an attic, plus a further recessed attic, and a basement. The central three houses and the end pairs project slightly, featuring giant Corinthian arches on the first and second floors. The central house has a projecting five-bay portico with Corinthian columns, while the houses adjacent to the ends have projecting three-bay porticos. A continuous Greek Doric colonnade runs along the ground floor, topped by a stucco balustrade. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, while the first-floor windows are French casements. A dentil cornice sits above the second floor, with a subsidiary cornice above the third. The returns to the front of the terrace are grand and porticoed. The terrace is enclosed by spearhead area railings.
