Description
This is a group of four houses, numbered 19 to 22, along with a screen wall representing the facades of numbers 23 and 24, built around 1855. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a hidden roof. Each house has two windows, and exhibits four storeys plus an attic, over a basement. Numbers 19A to 21 project forward, displaying rusticated quoins. The ground floor features rustication. The front of each house has paired, projecting Ionic porches with panelled doors, set into the front plane. A continuous balustraded balcony runs along the first floor. The windows are sash windows with plate glass, and those on the first floor are French casements. The first floor windows are flanked by fluted Corinthian half columns and have pediments above. The second and third floors have cornices with individual balustraded balconies. A rich dentil cornice sits above the third floor, with a smaller cornice at the attic level. These houses form part of a larger terrace that extends to numbers 32 to 48, though the houses in between were demolished.
