Description

TQ 2782 SE and 2882 SW CITY OF WESTMINSTER YORK BRIDGE REGENT'S PARK NWl 34/9 ; 35/1 North West Wing of Bedford College - II College building. 1910-13 by Basil Champneys. Red brick; tiled roof. Long range with main central block advanced to north west front. Free style with C17 vernacular and Georgian Revival features. 3 and 4 storeys. Symmetrical 5-bay centre with 3 central bays slightly advanced and pedimented, 2 gabled bays each side and set back wings with linked gables. Central doorway. Flush framed mullioned and transomed glazing bar casements under flat cambered gauged brick arches. Bracketed eaves cornice and bold pediment; stone coped gables to wings. On the south east front the wings are only slightly set back and have projecting pediment capped gabled bays. Extensions to north end.
