Description

Girls High School was built between 1878 and 1882 by Basil Champneys in a Neo-Jacobean style. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and features a symmetrical plan centered around a hall topped with a cupola. Tall Ionic pilasters enhance the façade, while the wings are Dutch gabled and include bow and bay windows beneath semi-domes. There is a front addition to the hall in the same style, added around 1900. The windows are stone mullion and transom casements.
