Description

This is a row of houses located in Wilton Place, London, dating from the early 19th century. The houses are constructed of brick with the ground floor finished in channelled stucco. The mansard roofs are slate, covering numbers 15 through 24 and number 27. The buildings stand four stories high, with attic and basement levels, although numbers 14 and 25 through 28 are five stories tall. Each house has a two-window frontage. Each property features a round-headed entrance with various panelled doors and fanlights. First-floor balconies are made of wrought iron, with a “Gothic” design, although numbers 25, 26, and 27 have a unique “lyre” pattern. Windows are square headed and sash, with some retaining original glazing bars; some first-floor windows are French casements. Area railings are present. Number 25 has a Greater London Council plaque commemorating the residence of George Bentham, the botanist.
