Description
The Assemblies of the First Born Church, formerly known as the Church of St Stephen's, is a Grade II listed building located on Battersea Bridge Road. Designed by White and consecrated in 1887, this church is built in a Gothic style reminiscent of the 14th century, featuring yellow stocks interlaced with red brick and stone dressings. The narthex roof is covered in slate, while the other roofs are now tiled.
The west end of the church has three lancet windows and is flanked by buttresses that end in pyramidal turrets. The nave consists of four bays and includes windows with cusped tracery, each containing three lights, alongside low windowless aisles. At the east end of the north aisle stands a tower that features a corbelled clock stage and a broach spire. The apsidal chancel is elevated on an undercroft, and the interior boasts a substantial king-post roof.
