Description

The Church of the Sacred Heart, built in 1872 by F A Walters, is a Grade II listed building located on Trott Street. It is designed in the Romanesque style and constructed of red brick, featuring stone sills and some stone dressings at the entrance. The church comprises a nave and aisles, which are highlighted by arched clerestory windows. At the east end, there is an apsidal chancel, and the west tower is topped with an octagonal broached spire. Inside, the church has a barrel vaulted ceiling.
