Description
Elliott School is a purpose-built comprehensive school constructed between 1955 and 1956, designed by G.A. Trevett of the London County Council. The building features a reinforced concrete frame with brick and curtain walling, accented by coloured panel spandrels, as well as render and tile cladding. It has a cruciform plan and includes a six-storey teaching block, an assembly hall and entrance wing on one side, and a gym on the other. The teaching block is characterized by glass curtain walls with pale grey spandrel panels and serrated glazing on the staircases, culminating in a top storey with a wavy roofline. The assembly hall is notably sculptural with rendered sides, and the entrance is marked by a narrow cantilevered canopy that rises upwards, complemented by patterned tile panels at the rear.
