Description
No. 101 Tooting High Street is a terrace house dating from the first third of the 18th century. It stands three stories high and is four bays wide, with the pier between the two left-hand bays being narrower than the others. The building is constructed of yellow stocks with stucco dressings, and the sash windows are set in gauged, cambered arches.
On the ground floor, the entrance bay has been stuccoed and no longer features its original porch. It has a cambered arch door surround, with a square fanlight dating from around 1820. Above the ground floor, there is a stuccoed string course.
On the first floor, the original windows have been lowered, and the sashes have been replaced at a lower level, leaving the space between the arch and the sash head blocked. The second floor appears to have been added during the same alteration and is finished with a stuccoed frieze, cornice, and blocking course. The adjacent houses seem to have been built as part of the same row.
