Description
No 199 on Bow Road, built in the late 17th century, is a three-storey building constructed of stock brick with red brick dressings and a brick band. The upper floor has been partly rebuilt and features a coped parapet. The roof is tiled, and the building has three windows, which are sashes in cased frames with replaced glazing bars. The ground floor has a reproduction 18th-century shop front with a door that includes a radial fanlight. Inside, there are panelled rooms on the first floor, and the upper part of the staircase is original.
No 199 is part of a focal group that includes St Mary's Church, the iron railings, gate and piers to the churchyard, the statue of W E Gladstone, and bollards, and it also groups with Our Lady of St Catherine Roman Catholic Church.
