Description
The Parish Watch House, located at the south-west corner of the churchyard, was built in 1826. It is constructed of brick and features a stone string course at the first-floor sill level, which is inscribed with the date of construction and the names of the churchwardens. The ground floor has two rusticated and vermiculated brick and stone arches, with a window and door set in recessed brick panels. The building has a stone-coped parapet and a stone plinth. It is two storeys high and has two windows under flat gauged arches, with glazing bars on those in the upper storey. The watch house is included for its historical and social interest and is part of a group with the listed buildings in St Matthews Row.
