Description
This is a terrace of eight houses, numbered 1 to 8, located on York Square in London’s E14 district. The houses were built in the late 18th or early 19th century. They are constructed of stock brick with a coped parapet and mansard slate roofs, featuring large chimneys. The appearance of numbers 3 to 8 was altered by a rebuilding. The houses are two storeys high with dormers and basements, and each has two windows. Dormers have cambered heads, sash windows, and casements. Ground-floor and first-floor windows have gauged brick arches, sash windows, and glazing bars; numbers 3 to 8 have stucco lintels instead. Round-headed door surrounds feature fanlights and fluted pilasters. Numbers 1 to 8 form a group with numbers 3 to 8 on Flamborough Street and numbers 17 to 31 (odd) on Barnes Street, together encompassing York Square.
