Description

The British Waterways Customs House, located on the west quay of the Regent's Canal dock entrance, was built between 1905 and 1910. This two-storey building is designed in an early 18th-century domestic style, featuring red brick construction with rusticated stucco quoins, a plinth, and a plat band. The steep hipped tiled roof is adorned with modillion brackets at the eaves cornice.

The east elevation has six bays, with a splayed corner bay and a three-bay return facing the river. The windows are revealed horned glazing bar sash types, topped with flat gauged brick arches. The river elevation has similar but narrower windows and includes a secondary entrance framed by pilasters, a frieze, and a modillion cornice. Additionally, there is a stuccoed enclosed porch that features pilasters and a segmental pediment, with a doorway that has an architrave surround.
