Description
The Tomb of Samuel Weddell is a funerary monument located in Tower Hamlets Cemetery, commemorating Samuel Weddell, who died in 1845. It is made of Portland stone and features a tapering rectangular sarcophagus topped with acroteria and a shallow pedimented cover. On the east end, there is a bronze inscription panel that includes an excerpt from Weddell's will. The inscription states that he bequeathed one hundred pounds to the City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery to ensure the tomb and vault are kept in repair, highlighting the foresight of clients in making provisions for the upkeep of their memorials.
