Description

The Tomb of John Smith is a funerary monument located in Tower Hamlets Cemetery, commemorating John Smith who died in 1846. It is made of Portland stone and features a standing figure of a mourning woman holding a scroll and leaning on a circular pedestal topped with an urn. This pedestal is placed on a square plinth with inset corners, which stands on a base made of York stone. This tomb is notable as one of the few Neo-classical monuments in the cemetery that includes figure sculpture.
