Description
The Tomb of Sarah Morris and George Morris is a funerary monument located in Tower Hamlets Cemetery, commemorating George Morris, who died in 1843. The tomb is made of Portland stone and features a tapering sarcophagus supported by four console feet. It stands on a two-stage base that rests on a rectangular tomb chest with inset panels, which is further elevated by a stepped base. On the eastern end of the sarcophagus, there is a relief of a lily with a cut flower. Surrounding the tomb are cast-iron railings topped with flaming urn finials, all set into a York stone base. This monument is part of a group of outstanding memorials situated near the main entrance of the cemetery.
