Description

The Blackwall River Police Station, built in 1894, is a Norman Shaw-influenced design by architect John Butler. It stands on the river wall and incorporates a slipway for boats. The station is constructed of red brick with white stone bands, featuring a parapet with a central, coped gable. It is four storeys high and has four bays. The windows are two and three-light designs with stone mullions, and two central bays are dedicated to a lookout over the river. It is likely the first purpose-built River Police Station.
