Description
The statue of Mrs. Booth is located in the forecourt of the William Booth Memorial Training College in Champion Park, Southwark. It was created in 1829 by the sculptor George Edward Wade and the Morris Art Foundry. The statue depicts Mrs. Catherine Booth, who was the wife of General William Booth, the founder of The Salvation Army. It is made of bronze and stands on a grey granite pedestal, which is inscribed with the words: "MRS CATHERINE BOOTH THE ARMY MOTHER BORN JANUARY 17TH 1829 PROMOTED TO GLORY OCTOBER 4TH 1890."
